The Island Free Library invites everyone to participate in the programs listed below.

Library Hours: The Library is open on Tuesdays 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
*** KIDS’ PROGRAMS ***
Wednesdays: 10:30 a.m. Lapsit Story Time for ages 0 to 2. Stories, songs, and fingerplays at the library with Ms. Morgan.
Thursdays: 10:30 a.m. Preschool Storytime for ages 3 to 5 years with Ms. Morgan. Read, sing, dance and play!
*** ADULT PROGRAMS ***
Tuesdays, 5:30 p.m. Mah Jongg. In addition, we will play on Saturdays at 10 a.m. Come play a game or two. If you don’t know how to play, we will teach you. All are welcome to participate.
Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. Book Group via Zoom. Claire Oshetsk’s “Chouette.” Stop by the library to pick up a copy.
Thursdays: 5 - 6 p.m. D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read). Join others in an hour of silent reading. No other library services will be available - and no chitchatting, please.
Saturdays at 10 a.m.: Mah Jongg. Come play a game or two. If you don’t know how to play, we will teach you. All are welcome to participate.
Saturdays 1 p.m. Stitch Together: Bring your projects (knitting, crochet, weaving, or embroidering) for crafting and conversations. All ages and skill levels welcome – bring your problems and questions - help is available!
Island Free Library Book Mobile: Not feeling well or can’t get out of the house? The IFL Book Mobile will bring books, movies, or magazines to you. Please call Judy at (401) 466-3233 and she can bring your items to you.
Someone Must Wash the Dishes Saturday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. the Friends of the Island Free Library present “Someone Must Wash the Dishes: an Anti-Suffrage Satire,” performed by professional actress Michele LaRue at Island Free Library. Refreshments will be served.
Block Island Gardeners Fall Wrap-up All are invited to the Block Island Gardeners Fall Wrap-up at the Community Center on Wednesday, Oct. 5 from 4 to 6 p.m. Enjoy light refreshments and participate in a discussion of this year’s gardening experiences (successes, failures and opportunities for learning). Followed at 5 p.m. by a talk, “Gardening Above and Below the Ocean: Kelp Harvesting on Block Island,” presented by Catherine Puckett. For questions, email Elizabeth at email@example.com.
Block Island Arts & Crafts Guild: The last Block Island Arts & Crafts Guild Fair will be Saturday, Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ten percent of sales go towards arts scholarships for B.I. School students. On the lawn at the Historical Society.
Last Farmers Market of the 2022 season will be held on Saturday, October 8 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Block Island Historical Society.
Caretakers Support Group: The Caregivers Support Group will be meeting in person at the Community Center on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 4 p.m. Meetings are free of charge and held every other week. Contact Kerri Gaffett at firstname.lastname@example.org for questions.
Harvest Festival and Chili Cook-off hosted by The Block Island School Friends at the school on Sunday, Oct. 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. Includes a chili cook-off to support the Ceramics Department, games and activities for kids, a bake sale and the Patriots’ game! If you are interested in competing in the chili cook-off or have questions, please call Lisa at (401) 575-3167.
Senior Ride Service: Open to full-time and seasonal island seniors (60 and over) and persons with special needs as well as caretakers without transportation. Community Café: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Block Island Community Center. Come socialize, play games, learn a new craft, and more.
