Delaware offshore project on hold; Deepwater picks mainland cable route
The Associated Press reports that NRG Energy, the New Jersey-based company that owns Bluewater Wind, a 200 mW offshore wind farm it’s planning off Delaware, put the project on hold this week. NRG said it has been unable to find an investment partner, and needed federal tax credits have been eliminated.
Meanwhile, Deepwater Wind is moving ahead with plans for a 30 mW wind farm off Block Island. The South County Independent reports that the company held a well-received open house in Narragansett on the proposed mainland route of the cable that would link the wind farm, and Block Island, to National Grid. It would make landfall at Narragansett Pier and travel underground to Wakefield Mall.
