Dolores (Dee Dee) Casey (née Bonura) of Paterson, N.J., formerly of Paramus, died on Jan. 11, 2017 after a long illness. She was 82.

Dolores was born on March 27, 1934 in Passaic, New Jersey, the youngest child of Christopher and Fannie Bonura (née Bochiaro). Along with her brothers John, and the late Salvatore, she spent her childhood in Lodi, New Jersey, surrounded by a large extended family, many of whom were first-generation Italian Americans. Her Italian American heritage was something she cherished throughout her life, and she sought to maintain and pass on those traditions to her children and grandchildren.

It was an Irishman who captured her heart, however. Four months after meeting Thomas Casey on a blind date, the two were engaged and soon married. They drove to Key West, Florida, and then sailed to Cuba for their honeymoon. In later years, they purchased a home in Key West in which they spent many happy times with family and friends, and where Dolores soon became known for the elaborate dinner parties she would host featuring, of course, her famous pasta and “gravy.” Dolores and Tom also built a home on Block Island, Rhode Island, where they cultivated 40 years of memories with those they loved, surrounded by the beautiful Mohegan bluffs and overlooking the sea. After her children were grown, one of Dee’s proudest accomplishments was opening a boutique, Head To Toe Body Shop, where she brought her love of Key West and contemporary fashion to the island.

Dolores is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Thomas Casey; her loving children, Thomas Casey III and his wife, Anita; Chris Ann Casey; Daniel Casey and his wife, Maria; Kathleen Casey Krafton and her husband, Bill Krafton; her cherished grandchildren, Patrick Casey, Meaghan Casey, Colleen Casey, Thomas Casey, Daniel Casey, Kevin Krafton, and Luke Krafton; her dear brother, Johnny; as well as her loving niece, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed greatly by all those whose lives she touched with her warmth and humor.

Family received friends on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017 at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Paramus. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Church, Lodi, N.J.
