First Annual Providence Book Festival
Connecting readers with writers, the first annual Providence Book Festival comes to the heart of the creative capital on April 26 and 27, 2019. Award winning authors from around the nation will converge on the Renaissance Hotel, RISD Museum of Art and other Providence locations to celebrate books, literature and the boundless power of words to inspire and transform. The historic city of Providence will be lit up with authors, editors and publishers who are eager to connect with R.I.’s book lovers and vibrant literary community.
Honorary Co-chairs of this year’s festival are bestselling author Ann Hood and R.I. Poet Laureate Emerita Lisa Starr.
The Providence Book Festival (PBF) is honored to feature nationally acclaimed fiction, nonfiction and children/young-adult authors and poets. Attendees will interact with authors and get the chance to discover new books, inspiring stories and ideas at readings, signings, workshops, panel discussions, book consultations and more. Music, food trucks, pop-up events and literary activities for children will also be available.
On Friday, April 26, the PBF is excited to present the “Authors in Schools” program at various Providence schools with readings and Q & A to foster a love of reading and nurture the imagination of students. On Friday evening, attendees will enjoy the Opening Night Keynote Reception & Readings at the beautiful Renaissance Hotel.
Following the Authors’ Breakfast on Saturday, April 27, this family-fun celebration continues throughout the day with a wide array of distinguished authors discussing their books in dynamic and diverse forums. The PBF will also include literary-themed exhibits from publishers and organizations as well as valuable resources for readers and writers.
This spring, attendees will fall in love with new books at the Providence Book Festival. The complete lineup of presenting authors and schedule of events will be announced in March. Visit www.providencebookfestival.org to register for opening night tickets and All-Day Passes.
Proceeds from the festival will benefit reading, writing and literacy programs in R.I. public libraries. The Providence Book Festival is presented by LiteraryArts R.I. and made possible by the generous support of the Providence Tourism Council, donors and our passionate team of volunteers.
