Frances J. Honan, 88
Frances J. (Brennan) Honan, 88, of Narragansett and Block Island, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 at home. She was the wife of the late Dr. Frank J. Honan and the late Robert H. Perry. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Melissa (Kilduff) Brennan.
She always said she was so lucky to be able to spend her summers on Block Island for the last 50 years. Her late husband, Frank, had worked on Block Island in his late teens around 1917 and bought their summer home in 1949. She was a phenomenal swimmer and loved to spend her days at the beach with her Block Island friends. She could always be seen waving at passersby as she sat out on her front porch on Spring Street while enjoying her evening cocktail of Dewar’s and soda. Fran also loved going to Capt. Nicks on Sunday evenings to dance in her chair and have fun. She was always the life of the party. The first to laugh and get up to dance and sing a song to everyone with her fun-loving, crackling, occasionally off-key voice. All her family and friends loved her and will miss her dearly.
Fran was the mother of Robert Perry and his wife Neda of Narragansett and Block Island, K.C. Perry of Pascoag, and Dan Perry and his wife Cheryl of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; step-mother of Stephen Honan and his wife Fran, and Elliot Honan and his wife Martha, all of Mass., Ann Rodriguez and her husband Rod of Florida, and the late Barry Honan and his wife Connie of Conn., and Block Island; sister of the late Doris Weir, Thelma Dailey and Mary McGarty; loving grandmother of 20; great-grandmother to 23; and great-great-grandmother to 11.
Her funeral was held at Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory on Sept. 10 and was followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Veronica Chapel. She was buried at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
