Gail Sanchez, 73
Gail (Fuller) Sanchez, 73, of South Dartmouth, Mass. and Block Island passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015 after a long illness. She was the widow of the late Capt. Edward O. Sanchez Jr., to whom she was married for 33 years, and the daughter of the late Amy L. Fuller and William O. Fuller Jr.
Gail is survived by her son Edward O. Sanchez III and his wife Colleen of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and Newport, R.I.; and her daughter Melissa Sanchez O’Reilly and her husband Edward O’Reilly of Block Island, R.I. She was the very proud grandmother of Aidan O’Reilly of Block Island, R.I. Additional survivors are her sister Arlene Fuller Cloutier of Westport, Mass., her mother-in-law Helen Sanchez of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; a sister-in-law Helen Paquin of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; her nieces, a nephew, several cousins and great aunt.
Born and raised in New Bedford, Mass., Gail graduated from New Bedford High School and Fitchburg State College where she received a degree in Elementary Education. She was a former teacher at the Mt. Pleasant School in New Bedford and also was the owner of Buzzards Bay Realty.
Gail was an avid bridge player, knitter, puzzle solver, member of the Wamsutta Club, the New Bedford Yacht Club and the former College Club of New Bedford. She loved spending her summers on Block Island with her family.
According to her wishes, all funeral arrangements will be private. The family will hold a memorial service in the spring.
