Genevieve McCue Woolley, 92
Genevieve McCue Woolley, 92, of Hartford, Conn., and Block Island, died peacefully at her home in Hartford on Sunday, April 23, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Woolley, who died on June, 10, 1990. Genevieve’s sister Carol-Ann (McCue) King and her family reside in Florida. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry R. McCue, Joseph McCue, and sister Rosalie (McCue) Gormely.
Genevieve was born on June 24, 1924, in Stamford, Conn., to Joseph and Lauretta McCue. She resided in Hartford most of her life, spending summers on Block Island.
Genevieve graduated from Cornell University, with an RN in nursing. She received undergraduate and advanced degrees from the University of Hartford, as well as an advanced degree from Trinity College, all with honors. Genevieve was the school nurse at Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford, Conn., during its first two years of existence. She was a longtime employee and high school teacher with the greater Hartford Public School System and an active member of the Teachers Union.
Genevieve was a longtime summer resident of Block Island and, after her retirement, she spent many wonderful seasons at the cherished family home on Block Island with her family and dear friends. Genevieve was an avid reader, gardener, scrabble player and most of all, a kind, loving, and sincere friend to everyone. Genevieve will be deeply missed by everyone who met her.
She is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law; Joseph E. and Danielle Woolley of South Windsor, Conn., Richard B. and Karen Woolley of Wakefield, R.I., and Block Island, Peter A. and Susan A. Woolley of Oceanside, Calif., Bruce J. and Margaret M. Woolley of West Hartford, and Christopher Woolley of Hartford; five treasured grandchildren, Michael J. and Corie Woolley of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Mark and Jenna Ewing (Woolley) of Charlotte, N.C., Gregory Woolley of West Hartford, Ben and Kayla Young (Woolley) of Lake Forest, Calif., and Aaron Woolley of Los Angeles, Calif.; three adored great-grandchildren, Emily Young, Matthew Young and Michael Ewing (Woolley), and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Genevieve was lovingly cared for during the last years of her life by Raquel Corona and Heidi Emidy with the assistance of her family and her many friends. The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Genevieve their greatest gratitude.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, 140 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, Conn.
