It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Jeffrey Taintor Phillips announces his passing from life to the great beyond.
Born in Fairfield County, Conn., Jeffrey was the youngest child of Dawn and Edward Perry Phillips and adored brother to his three siblings, Brook, Ned, and Julie. His sweet nature and wonderful humor brought us all great joy in the years throughout his life. His love for his two sons, Gregory and Perry, was profound; his admiration for the lives they have created for themselves made him very proud.

Jeffrey lived a full life in extraordinary places, and created tales he endlessly recounted with an articulation of a great storyteller. From his childhood home in Southport, Conn., to his adult life working in New York City, St. Barthelemy, French West Indies, interspersed with travels to Europe, and his eventual home on Block Island, Jeff’s incomparable spirit of adventure and enthusiasm for life always attracted people to his side. It was on Block Island where he started a family and where he made his early success in his own construction company building many homes, including the Block Island Post Office on Water Street; whistling while he worked, accomplishing masterful craftsmanship and respect for his dedication to work.
Despite the illness that eventually took him from us, he faced his demise in his own way; stubborn and steadfast in his preference to remain on Block Island – watching the ever changing ocean movement below his home, the whales migrating, the moon rise; a be-
loved dog or cat and a book by his side.

He will forever be remembered with love in many of our hearts.
May you rest in peace.
We would also like to thank the Block Island Rescue Squad and the many people who stood by his side.
You know who you are and we are forever thankful.
