New Shoreham Town Council Public Hearing
Proposal to Amend New Shoreham Zoning Map
and Ordinance
Article 5 Section 504 Sign (B) 6. Symbols
The New Shoreham Town Council is considering a change to New Shoreham’s Zoning Ordinance, specifically how to calculate the size of a sign when three dimensional symbols are used.  The section follows, with proposed new language in bold italics and language to be removed shown stricken out (like this). Before acting on the proposal and/or amendments to it, the Town Council will hold a Public Hearing at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Town Hall, Old Town Road, New Shoreham at which time all persons for or against may be heard.  The proposed ordinance may be altered or amended prior to the close of the public hearing without further advertising, as a result of further study or because of the views expressed at the public hearing.  Any alteration or amendment must be presented for comment in the course of the hearing.  Section 504 in its entirety with the changes indicated is available at the Town Hall, Island Free Library and on the Town’s website: new-shoreham.com

Land Development and Subdivision Regulations

The New Shoreham Planning Board is considering amending the New Shoreham Land Development and Subdivision Regulations.
Before acting on the proposal and/or amendments to it, the Planning Board will hold a Public Hearing at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Town Hall, Old Town Road, New Shoreham at which time all persons for or against may be heard. The proposed ordinance may be altered or amended prior to the close of the public hearing without further advertising, as a result of further study or because of the views expressed at the public hearing. ARTICLE 1 – AUTHORITY, INTENT AND ADOPTION
Text relating to vesting under ordinance in place prior to 1994 removed (language no longer valid).
ARTICLE 2 – DEFINITIONS
Definitions added for: “buffer”, “developable land”, “flexible design residential development”, “lot area”, “modification of requirements”, “open space”, and “waiver of requirements”.
Definitions deleted for: “cluster development”, “major residential development (cluster)”, and “street, limited access highway”.
Definitions modified for: “endorsement”, “major land development plan”, “minor subdivision”, “street”, and “street classification”.
ARTICLE 3 – GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

TOWN OF NEW SHOREHAM
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
FRED BENSON TOWN BEACH DEMOLITION AND REPLACEMENT
The Town of New Shoreham, Rhode Island is soliciting proposals from qualified architectural/engineering firms relative to the proposed construction of a new Beach Pavilion designed to replace the existing Pavilion, located at 7 Corn Neck Road. Basic project elements will include a preliminary design report for the demolition/renovation of the existing facility and the construction of a new facility (including schematics and renderings), the development of probable costs of construction and related services, and a public relations and marketing campaign and project schedule.
BIDS will be received by the Town Manager of the Town of New Shoreham, Rhode Island (hereinafter called the "Town"), at Town Hall, #16 Old Town Road on Monday, June 6, 2011 until 2:00 pm and then at said office publicly opened and read aloud.
Each BID must be submitted in a sealed envelope, addressed to Town of New Shoreham, P.O. Drawer 220, Block Island RI  02807.  Each sealed envelope containing a BID must be plainly
marked on the outside as BID for FRED BENSON TOWN BEACH DEMOLITION AND REPLACEMENT and the envelope should bear on the outside the BIDDER'S name, address and license number (if applicable).  If forwarded by mail, the sealed envelope containing the BID must be enclosed in another envelope addressed to the Town Manager at P.O.
