Lobster Pot Tree
To the Editor:
It is hard to believe it is that time of year. Thanksgiving is next week! The Old Harbor Task Force invites you to drop by early afternoon, Sunday, Nov. 18 and watch the The Lobster Pot Christmas Tree being created. Turtle, his family, and his friends will be constructing this beloved tree. Starting around noon the kids will be selling coffee, hot chocolate, cookies, and brownies, so do plan to stop by and buy a cup of hot chocolate and take some photos.
The proceeds go to the Block Island School Friends’ school trips and Esta’s Park, which is home of the Lobster Pot Christmas Tree. We need some bakers. When you are baking this weekend, double your batch of cookies and drop off some at noon for the kids to sell. The kids will be selling from noon on until the tree is done or the food runs out! Your help and support would be greatly appreciated.
The tree will be lit at dusk on Thanksgiving Day.
Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving!

To the Editor:
On behalf of the Block Island Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, I wanted to give a belated but sincere thank you to Katie and Mark Scortino and the Mohegan Café staff. All the proceeds from their last night’s buffet were given to the Department. This has been a fun way to end their season for the past few years and we greatly appreciate their generosity.
I also wanted to thank Yellow Kittens for hosting yet another amazing Halloween party. All of their door proceeds were also given to the Department. The costumes were amazing and I hope everyone had fun.Thank you again to these two island businesses. The Department is thankful.
