Lions Club restarts February lottery
After a year-long hiatus the Block Island Lions Club is restarting its popular calendar lottery just in time for the 2019 Holiday Stroll.
The game works like this: Lottery ticket holders pick two numbers — say 150 and 895 — that will be their chosen numbers for the entire month. On any given day during the month, if those numbers are chosen by the Connectcut state lottery, then the ticket holder who chose that number could win up to $350. Lottery numbers are drawn every day for the entire 29 days of the month of February.
“Funds raised by the lottery will be dedicated to various Lions Club charities, ranging from scholarships to school trips and other civic activities and continued support of the facilities at the Ball O’Brien Park,” said former Lions Club President Steve McQueeny. For example, the Lions recently approved a $5,200 donation to the Block Island School’s Close-Up trip to Washington, D.C.
The winners will be contacted by the Lions Club member that sold them the ticket. “Ticket holders have multiple chances to win,” said McQueeeny.
“It’s good for the month of February,” said Lions Club First Vice President Ed Hayde.
Prizes will be distributed at the end of the month, and mailed to each winner’s addresses,” said Hayde.
Each ticket is $20. Contact Ed Hayde at (845) 206-6600 or McQueeny at (401) 466-5067, or any Lions Club member you may happen to know.
