A look at what other towns are doing
The following was submitted by the New Shoreham Broadband Committee:
The Broadband Committee continues to work on investigating the best options for internet service on Block Island (including what we could add on as well).
We have researched several communities similar to ours and would like to share their stories and information.
Below are a list of communities in Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont that have successfully brought broadband to their lives. Please read about the benefits of these small-town networks and let us know what you think.

The Committee also has a Facebook page, Broadband Block Island, which encourages people to post comments about what they feel the island’s internet needs may be. Page can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/BlockIslandBroadBand/
The Committee has shifted its meetings to 4 p.m. on Thursdays at Town Hall. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to provide input.
