National Grid is off the beach
National Grid has wrapped up its construction activity, and removed all of its equipment, from the sand at the Fred Benson Town Beach.
On Saturday, June 25, the utility company buried its sea2shore cable under the sand. By the next day, National Grid had removed the steel cofferdam from the surf zone. During Monday's construction activity, the utility concluded its beach based cable installation, cleaned the area and restored the beach.
National Grid is in the process of concluding its installation activity in the north parking lot, which includes splicing the sea2shore cable with the land based cable. The utility company said it is confident about meeting the Thursday, June 30 deadline to be demobilized from the Town Beach locale.
