New state logo unveiled
PROVIDENCE — Having been the first gubernatorial candidate to include a detailed policy statement about the importance of tourism to the state, Gov. Gina Raimondo today unveiled a marketing logo and tagline for a new statewide campaign aimed at boosting Rhode Island's tourism industry.
The logo was revealed during a press conference at the Providence Headquarters of CommerceRI at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 28.
The logo is the work of three agencies hired for the $4.5 million campaign: Havas PR, the lead agency, along with Milton Glaser Inc., out of New York, and Epic Decade, which is based in Jamestown.
As she introduced Betsy Wall, Chief Marketing Officer for CommerceRI, Raimondo said “I want to thank the local tourism boards. They have been invaluable.” All of the state’s regional Tourism Boards, including Block Island’s, had previously seen the logo at an unveiling a couple of weeks ago.
Block Island Tourism Board Executive Director Jessica Willi said, “We have been waiting a long time for a State Campaign and now that it is here we look forward to moving ahead with the State Office of Tourism to bring more people to our beautiful state.”
After a lengthy presentation by Wall, Raimondo said she would check in later in the year to see how the marketing campaign has worked.
