Next blood drive September 9
To the Editor,
Help, help, help. We need your help for the next blood drive. We have a severe blood shortage all over Rhode Island. Many elective surgeries are being canceled in order to preserve all the many blood types that are needed.
The next blood drive will be held on Thursday, September 9 at the Harbor Church from 1 to 5 p.m. All Block Islanders and visitors are encouraged to give blood. From start to finish it takes about an hour and there is no waiting. The problem is the COVID crisis resulted in eliminating 70 percent of all blood drives and a surge in surgeries that were postponed during COVID. So make an appointment by calling 401-453-8383.
• Age 16 can give with parent’s permission
• Age 17 and over can give, there is no age cut-off

• Those who have had babesiosis can give after two years.
If you have questions about eligibility call (401) 454-5307 and speak to a specialist.

Give hope by giving blood.
