A note of thanks
To the Editor,
They say it takes a village, and once again that proved to be true! The Block Island Tourism Council had what many are saying is the best Community Tree Lighting ever on Tuesday November 30th.
It was wonderful to gather in person on the lawn of the Harbor Church once again, a tradition for over 15 years. Thank you to Pastor Peter and the Harbor Church
for providing the space, the hot cider, and making a blessing; Miss Hennessy and the Block Island elementary students for lifting us up in song; Santa for making the trip; and the BIVFD for getting Santa to the event in style.
The Tourism Council would like to thank those that donated their time and energy to help in the building of the tree (see picture); Pastor Peter Preiser, John and Sar-
ah Cullen, Brad, Anne, and Olive Marthens, Dave Sniffen, Hope Desmarais, Jim and Logan Chase, Jorge Aragao, and Alden and Amanda Pickering. Additionally we need to thank Sean McGarry and his crew at BIRM for all their help in storing and moving the tree, Sean Dugan for his audio equipment, and Chris Willi for the use of his truck. I, personally, would like to thank John Cullen for being the steady presence behind this beloved community event. If you see John out there, be sure to tell him if you enjoyed the tree lighting or if it brought joy to your little ones. None of it happens without him!
Enjoy the lights Block Island,
Block Island Tourism Council
