In this docket, the Block Island Utility District (BIUD) filed for approval of a tariff advice designed to implement BIUD’s proposed net metering program. The program is designed to give effect to recently enacted provisions of R.I.G.L. § 39-26.4-3 by increasing the maximum aggregate amount of net metering from the existing cap of 3% of BIUD’s peak load to a higher cap of 10% of BIUD’s peak load. Under the proposed tariff, net metering systems will be available to any residential or commercial customer until the proposed cap of 10% is reached. Net metering systems installed prior to December 31, 2019, would be grandfathered in under the existing net metering policy until the member
replaces or upgrades their existing system.
Written public comments regarding the proposed tariff may be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on February 1, 2022 to Luly E. Massaro, Commission Clerk, Public Utilities Commission, 89 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick, R.I. 02888 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The proposal is available for examination at the PUC’s office. The dockets can also be accessed at http://www.ripuc.ri.gov/eventsactions/
