One island, two views, at Spring Street Gallery
Jamie Marie Rose and Leah Robinson have appreciated each other’s artistic works and talked of having a painting show together for many years. Both artists are inspired by island seascapes and landscapes and through the process of painting express an intimate connection with the places they love. Together, they have also created beautiful wedding floral designs for Jamie’s floral business, La Bella Rose on Block Island. The show opens on Saturday, Aug. 10, with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Spring Street Gallery.
Robinson’s watercolor paintings reflect the spirit of Block Island and present details of contemporary daily life in a place abundant with historic charm. Leah is in love with watercolor and has been blessed to have lived seasonally on Block Island for eight years — a place where a ride to work or a bowl of cereal is an inspiration.
Jamie Marie Rose deeply relates to the natural and authentic beauties of Block Island, a place where she has lived her whole life.
Her plein air oil paintings reflect her love of old Block Island and obsession with islands around the world.
