Opportunities to serve
The New Shoreham Charter Review Commission is appointed every 10 years to review New Shoreham’s Home Rule Charter and recommend changes to the Town Council. Changes to the Town Charter are decided by ballot questions in a general election or referendum. If you wish to serve on the Charter Commisson, please send a letter of interest to the Town Council with your qualifications no later than Monday, March 4 by noon. That letter can either be dropped off at the Town Clerk’s office, or emailed to email@example.com.
There are other opportunities to serve. There is one vacancy on the New Shoreham Housing Board which must be filled by someone representing a housing advocacy group. The Housing Board uses a rental home tax to create affordable year round and seasonal housing, among other duties. If you are interested in serving, please send a letter of interest to the Town Council by March 4 at noon.
The Historic District Commission (HDC) needs another member. The HDC carries out the provisions of the Historic District Zoning and acts on applications filed by property owners in the Historic District, among other duties. If you are interested in serving, please send a letter of interest to the Town Council with your qualifications also before noon on March 4.
