Quarter launch to be live-streamed
The Block Island Times received the following message from Tony Nunes, Asst. Vice President, Social Media and Public Relations at Washington Trust:
The U.S. Mint and U.S. Fish & Wildlife are hosting a quarter launch event in Charlestown on Thursday, Nov. 15. Washington Trust is the bank chosen by the U.S. Mint to distribute the quarters at that event.
Because the event is happening off the island, we wanted to ensure that Block Island residents would have the opportunity to get the quarters that same day, and without having to leave the island. So, on Thursday, Nov. 15, Washington Trust is co-presenting a livestream of the Charlestown event with Fish & Wildlife at the Block Island School from 10:25 a.m. to 11 a.m. The public is welcome to attend. There will be a ceremonial quarter pour (literally pouring out the quarters) at the school during this time. Following the event, beginning at 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Washington Trust branch on the island will have a coin exchange, during which residents can purchase $10 rolls of the Block Island quarter exclusively. This (and the Charlestown event) will be the only place that these quarters will be available like this — all rolled together.
Again, Washington Trust is thrilled to be working with both the U.S. Mint and U.S. Fish and Wildlife to release the coins to the Block Island community on Nov. 15.
