Ronald James Roessler, 81
Ronald James Roessler, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died unexpectantly on January 26, 2021. Married to Sally (nee Canfield) for over 58 years, the couple met first weekend freshman year of college and have been together ever since. Ron attended Miami University and received his JD from University of Wisconsin, and his LLM from George Washington University.
After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, Ron worked for decades as a corporate lawyer in the field of insurance. He lived in Baltimore in the 1970s and early 1980s before moving to Connecticut where he worked in Manhattan. Upon his early retirement Ron and Sally moved back to Baltimore.
Ron loved playing Scrabble multiple times a day. He cherished his summers on Block Island, RI. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather (“Grampy”). And he found it almost impossible (pre-pandemic) to walk by a dog and not pet it. He was known for witty humor, his thrill of completing the New York Marathon and his love of any dessert.
In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his two daughters and their families: Martha of Lincoln, MA and her sons Matthew and Charlie, and Elizabeth (Jeffrey) and their daughters Kelly and Grace, of Lake Forest, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary D. Fund of Block Island, (401) 466-2332, P.O. Box 323, Block Island, RI 02807.
