Saying “Good-bye”

To the Editor,
As you may have heard, I have accepted a position to be the Chief of Police in South Kingstown and will be leaving New Shoreham later this month. As a police officer, to be able to be the chief in your own community is a dream job and South Kingstown is where my wife and I have lived since we were married. We raised our family there and being able to return home is simply too good of an opportunity to pass.
It has been a distinct honor to serve as your Chief of Police for the last year. I loved working with the men and women at the New Shoreham Police Department and enjoyed the camaraderie of the hard-working team at the DPW. The support and encouragement of the business owners and community members made me feel welcome and supported during my tenure and I am proud of the collaborations we built and the work we did to improve public safety on Block Island. I am thankful for the friendships we made and look forward to seeing familiar faces from the island on the mainland.

Thank you,
Matthew C. Moynihan
