Shotgun season for deer hunting has begun. Hunting on Block Island continues until Feb. 22, 2019.

Be aware of the hunting days (calendar is available at the Town Hall, the Police Station and on the DEM website - www.dem.ri.gov). The orange flag flying at the Police Station indicates a hunting day.

People engaging in outdoor activity are encouraged to wear orange or fluorescent clothing. We discourage the use of dark clothing and/or white hats and gloves, as they can be mistaken for deer tails.

Be familiar with information referencing other types of hunting - i.e. pheasant, ducks, geese, etc. Please use good judgement regarding walking, jogging, horseback riding, and biking on hunting days.

Please be familiar with public information as to when there is permitted hunting in areas used by the public - i.e. Rodman's Hollow, north end town land etc.

Do not hesitate to call the station (401-466-3220) if you have any questions or concerns. Most questions can be answered at dem.ri.gov
