Starry, starry Library
Library Journal has once again rated the Island Free Library as one of the country’s Star Libraries.
Library Journal rates libraries based on circulation of materials both in traditional formats as well as electronic circulation, visits to the library, program attendance, and public internet computer use.
More than 7,300 U.S. public libraries are scored on the Library Journal Index, out of which 257 are named Star Libraries. The Island Free Library has been recognized as a Star Library for 11 consecutive years and remains the only Rhode Island library to ever receive the distinction, according to Library Director Kristin Baumann.
“The library staff is proud of their accomplishments and the award and looks forward to many more successes and stars,” said Baumann. — Lars Trodson
