Turbine one capturing wind energy
Turbine number one’s blades were spinning, capturing wind energy on Thursday, March 2.
The six-megawatt turbine has the capacity to produce enough energy to power Block Island, which requires three to four megawatts of energy, during the summer season, and about one-megawatt of electricity during the winter months. Block Island is not yet connected to the wind farm’s cable transmission system, but expected to be connected some time in the near future.
