The following message was posted by the Town of New Shoreham on Monday, Jan. 25:

There is a special statewide bond referenda election on March 2, 2021. The ballot includes seven statewide bonding questions and 20 proposed amendments to our local Home Rule Charter of New Shoreham.  As with the November election, there are three ways to vote:

  • Absentee Ballot – Applications have been mailed to every voter (or download here https://vote.sos.ri.gov/Content/Pdfs/Calendar/Mail%20Ballot%20Application%20-%2003022021.pdf ).  Return the application by Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.  Please note, if you request a mail ballot, you cannot surrender your mail ballot and participate in early voting.
  • Early In-Person Voting – The poll at Town Hall will be open Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. beginning Wednesday, February 10th. The ballot is lengthy and a line may accumulate outside the building while waiting for an available voting booth.  Keep that in mind and dress accordingly.
  • Election Day Voting – March 2, 2021 the polls will be open at the Block Island School Gymnasium from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Enter in the back of the building by the playground.

As these days require, we will be practicing social distancing and will require that masks are worn at all times.
