Update: Incumbents win easily

Brown and Stinnett win School Committee seats

Incumbents on the national, state, and local levels won handily on Block Island after the votes were tallied at Town Hall at about 8:05 p.m. on election eve.

Town Council incumbents, including First Warden Ken Lacoste, won with 356 votes, while his challenger Mark Emmanuelle received 207 votes. Second Warden André Boudreau was unopposed and received 528 votes. The three at-large candidates: Martha Ball, Sven Risom, and Chris Willi staved off challenges by Paul Filippi and Leslie Slate.

Write-in candidates Kara Stinnett and Persephone Brown won the two open seats on the School Committee.

Incumbents State Sen. V. Susan Sosnowski, an unopposed Democrat, received, 517 votes, while state Rep. Blake Filippi, a Republican and also unopposed, received 434 votes.

On the national level, U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Rep. James Langevin easily won, with Langevin unopposed.

State elections saw incumbent Gov. Gina Raimondo garnering 428 votes, while her opponent, Cranston Mayor Allan Fung, received 108 votes.
