Verizon interruption caused by fiber connection issue
Verizon has informed The Block Island Times that its service interruption from July 27-30 was due to a vendor "fiber connection issue and some hardware." The company said it is working on making some improvements to its island network.
David Weissmann, a Public Relations Manager for the Verizon Consumer Group, said, “This week's network interruption was a result of an issue with our fiber connection and some hardware.” He added: “I should have an additional update early next week on some stuff we are doing to make improvements.”
Verizon is seeking information about weak coverage areas on the island. Verizon customers can weigh in with their thoughts about dead, or weak zones on The Times’ Facebook page.
