William E. Millikin, 78
William E. Millikin, 78, lifelong resident of Block Island, passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2020 at the Hospice Center in Providence.
He was the son of the late Charles E. and Margaret (Grimes) Millikin and the beloved husband of Catherine M. (Soborski) Millikin.
Bill was a lineman with the Block Island Power Company for nearly 40 years before retiring. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. At home, he was a member and served as Chief of The Block Island Volunteer Fire Department. He was elected Town Sergeant for the Town of New Shoreham from 1978 to 2001. He also served part-time as an officer and sergeant for the Block Island Police Department.
Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Charles E. Millikin, wife Colby and their children Mia, McKenna and Marlow; His daughter, Georgina Millikin, husband Atakan and their daughter Arya; His daughter, Kelly Leone, husband John and their children, Alicia, John, Michael and Nicholas.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral service and inurnment in Island Cemetery will be private. In the coming months when it is safe for family and friends to gather, a Celebration of Life will be held.
