Common Ground Coffeehouse
Friday, May 5, at 7 p.m. Common Ground Coffeehouse will present “La La Land,” a modern musical starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. The film won 6 Oscars including Best Actress and Director; it was nominated for 8 more, including Best Picture. A complimentary supper will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Study Hall
Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Island Free Library will be holding Power Hours for Scholars. Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, monitor group projects, and answer basic comprehension questions. Enter through the side door.

Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch is held every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

The Boys Varsity Baseball will be playing Times Squared Academy on Friday, May 5, at 12:30 p.m. The Girls Varsity Softball will be playing Paul Cuffee on Saturday, May 6, at 12:30 p.m. The Girls JV Softball will be playing Wickford on Saturday, May 13, at 10:30 a.m. The Girls Varsity will be playing Wheeler on Saturday, May 13, at 12:30 p.m. The Boys Varsity will be playing BCA on Tuesday, May 16, at 12:30 p.m. All games are played at Heinz Field.

Beach Cleanup Day
Washington Trust is sponsoring its first ever Statewide Beach Cleanup Day on Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at eight beaches across Rhode Island, including Fred Benson Town Beach on Block Island. Help the Rhode Island community ready our beaches for the summer season and preserve our state’s greatest resources. All are welcome.

“Four Legs To Stand On”
This deeply moving play about one family’s struggle with their son’s opioid addiction will be performed by Creating Outreach About Addiction Support Together on Saturday, May 6, at 6:30 p.m. at Block Island Maritime Institute. The 35-minute performance with a 20-minute Q & A with the actors and playwright is sponsored by the Block Island Wellness Coalition, Block Island Medical Center, and NAMI-BI. Everyone is welcome. Block Island School students and their families are encouraged to attend.

MDA Benefit Dinner
On Saturday, May 6, Mason's Movers will be having their third annual Mason's Movers MDA benefit dinner at 5 p.m. at Poor People's Pub. PPP has graciously offered to host the benefit and donate 10 percent of all dinner sales to the MDA. Come hungry! The Bereavement Group will be meeting on Sunday, May 7, at 3 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

Horseshoe Crab Survey & Tagging Workshops
There are horsehoe crab surveys on Monday, May 8, at 7pm, at Andy’s Way, Wednesday, May 10, at 9 am, at Cormorant Cove, and 8 pm at Andy’s Way, and Friday, May 12, at 10 am, at Andy’s Way. There is a Conservancy Day Reception on Saturday, May 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Narragansett Inn. Tracy Heinz will receive this year’s Bayberry Wreath Award.

There is an Earth Mother’s Day and Pavilion Celebration on Sunday, May 14, at 11:15 a.m. at the Ocean View Pavilion.

Pasta Diner
The Early Learning Center’s Annual Pasta Diner is on Tuesday, May 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Oar. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids.
