Common Ground Coffeehouse
Common Ground Coffeehouse on Friday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m., will present Britt Connors, singer-songwriter, and Mike Connors, percussionist, doing music they call "Y'all-ternative," a blend of country, rock, New Orleans, and foot-stomping. Complimentary supper of chowder and soup at 6:30 p.m. Donations for musicians encouraged.
Historical Society Tours
There will be special guided tours of “The Island’s Attic — interesting objects from the archives and special items celebrating the Historical Society’s 75th anniversary.” Tours: Friday, Sept. 15, at noon and 2 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. Tickets are $10/adults; $5 children. Tour includes a free poster and postcard set.
Hurricanes Home Soccer Games
There is a Varsity game on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 12:30 p.m. against BCA. There ia a Junior Varsity game on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 12:45 p.m. against JF Wilbur. There is a Varsity game on Friday, Sept.22, at 12:30 p.m. against Oxford. All games are played at Heinz Field.
Annual Block Island Residents Association Annual Meeting
Saturday, Sept. 16, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the BIMI Center. Linda Closter will be the Island Treasure honoree.
Taste Of Block Island
The Taste of Block Island Weekend starts this Friday, Sept. 15 to Sunday, Sept. 17. Lunch with Langevin
Jim Langevin will be on Block Island on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 12 to 2 p.m, I will be at The National Hotel. This is an opportunity to ask questions, share concerns and discuss in an informal one-on-one setting how we can make Rhode Island an even better place to live and work. Trip Around Block Island
The Wronowski family, Block Island Express, and Dead Eye Dick’s would like to invite all Block Island residents and businesses to its annual Open House and trip around Block Island aboard the JESSICA W on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 3 to 6 p.m. The highlight of the event is a trip around Block Island departing at 4 p.m. from the Ferry dock in Old Harbor.
Fall Lecture Series
Thursday, Sept. 21, Dr. Bruce Corliss, Dean of the URI Graduate School of Oceanography (GSO), will speak about the GSO and its programs, many of which may provide opportunities for local students, and future Block Island research. Dr. Corliss will also speak about green boating, another topic relative to the island’s environment. Lecture is at 6 p.m. at the BIMI Center.

The Farmers Market is every Wednesday and Saturday on The Spring House Lawn from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

“Seeking Shelter from the Storm, Daniel Berrigan, William Stringfellow and Block Island,” the exhibition, is open for viewing during Island Free Library hours. Weekly programming for this exhibition is scheduled for every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Island Free Library. Exhibition runs until Oct. 9.
