Common Ground Coffeehouse
Common Ground Coffeehouse on Friday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. will present the movie War for the Planet of the Apes. It is rated PG-13 but only for CGI violence. All ages welcome. Complimentary supper at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m., the Island Free Library will be holding Power Hours for Scholars. Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, monitor group projects, and answer basic comprehension questions. Free pizza!

On Saturday, Oct. 28, at 4:30 p.m. at the Library, Sy Montgomery, author of “Soul of an Octopus: A Surprising Exploration into the Wonder of Consciousness” (2015 National Book Award for Nonfiction), will join Howard Mansfield, author of “Summer Over Autumn: A Small Book of Small-Town Life,” to speak about their books. This event is co-sponsored by the Island Bound Bookstore. Refreshments will be served.
Yellow Kittens presents the Halloween Carnevil on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Featuring DJ Dugan, costume contests, drink specials, spooky decor, and more. $10 cover charge to benefit the BI Volunteer Fire Department.

Trunk or Treat Fall Festival
There is a Trunk or Treat Fall Festival at the Block Island School on Sunday, Oct. 29, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. (raindate Monday, Oct. 30). Trunk or Treating, games and pumpkins, kid activities for all ages. $25 entry fee per vehicle. Fundraiser for the Close Up Jr./Sr. class trip to Washington D.C.
