Common Ground Event
Friday, Jan. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Harbor Church. The movie will be “Avatar,” a groundbreaking sci-fi vision by James Cameron about caring for our world and the connectedness of all living things. Starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver. Supper at 6:30 p.m. Dessert and coffee to accompany the movie at 7 p.m.
Full Blood Moon and Lunar Eclipse
Sunday, Jan 20 at 10:30 p.m. Weather permitting, at Fred Benson Town Beach. There will be a beach fire between 10:30 p.m. and 2 a.m. with a full eclipse occurring at 12:15 a.m. Any questions feel free to give Kim Gaffett a call/text at (401) 595-7055.

There will be Ecumenical Choir practice for the Easter Concert held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church between now and Easter.

• Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. Young Adult Tie-Dye Party. Bring an item to tie-dye, all other supplies provided. All six to 12th graders welcome.
• Saturday, Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. Book Around The Block. Discussion about Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women.” Then stay for two movie versions of the book.

1 p.m. - “Little Women” starring Winona Ryder
• Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. Film and Soup. The movie is “Wasted.” The story of food waste. Bring a spoon and cup/bowl for soup. All are welcome!

Sunday, Jan. 27 from 2 to 4 p.m at the Block Island School cafeteria. A fundraiser for the eighth grade trip to New York City.

Helping Hands Food Pantry
The next Helping Hands Food Pantry will be Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Harbor Church.
BIYC Maritime Scholarship
Applications for the B.I. Yacht Club Maritime Scholarship will be accepted until Feb. 1, 2019. Graduates of the Block Island School who intend to pursue maritime careers, and are currently enrolled in a college undergraduate maritime program, are eligible.
