SHAME ON YOU LEADERS OF THE FLOCK!!!!!!!!
WHO FAIL TO PROTECT GOD’S PEOPLE DURING THIS CORONA CRISIS.
As some know, I write about church topics all the time. When I heard about not only this pastor but others around the country who are defying state and local bans on adhering to the limited gatherings of people allowed because of the fear of spreading the corona virus, I was taken aback by outright defiance by those who claim to be leaders of the church. My first thought was to inform the body of Christ by writing a thorough manuscript on being instructed as to how to test whatever those in leadership say in connection with what the Word of God says and not what the first amendment says.
When the apostle Paul and Silas came to Berea and entered into a Jewish synagogue and taught there, those who were in attendance studied the Word to see if what they said was Scripturally sound.
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
One of the things that Scripture tells us about church leaders is they are to be examples to the flock. One of the meanings of this word example according to the Greek is to live in such a way as to be emulated by others. I can’t think of a Scripture where any leader of a church would not have the best interests both physically and spiritually of their members in high regard.
Your response to me might be, who do you think you are?
I’m a born-again Christian, who loves the Lord. You might say you have no right to make a public announcement about the alleged sin of those in leadership who are defying federal, state, or local orders.
1 Timothy 5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
1 Corinthians 5:1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
Here are two verses that the Christian churches whose leadership is acting this way should be responsive to. Call for an immediate meeting and have them be removed from fellowship for a fixed period of time. Period, end of story. Public egregious sin in the church should be dealt with immediately whether of those in leadership or not.
The last thing I will say about this is, it’s one thing if someone in leadership says something like, after I made my pronouncement to the legal authorities of defying there orders thus putting my congregation in harm, their friends in harm, their family in harm or anyone else that they come in contact with, that I AM SORRY FOR WHAT I HAVE SAID AND DONE, then I can accept this. We have all said and done things rashly and after words realized I have to go and make amends for this.
However, in some of these cases, I HAVE HEARD NO APOLOGY, but further defiance. Church members, for those leaders who are speaking and acting like this, it is your responsibility to ask them to repent. If they don’t, have them be removed either by censure or indefinitely.
