“I was honored and humbled when Steven offered to host a retirement party in my name. While initially hesitant, I immediately agreed to the celebration after learning 100 percent of donations collected would be going to local charities right here on Block Island - the place both Steven and I call home. We both jumped at the chance to give back to this island that has given us so much over the years and to show what island values are all about,” Chief Carlone said.
“We are honored to host this event at Ballard’s to celebrate Chief Carlone and to raise much-needed funds for two amazing local charities,” Steven Filippi, owner of Ballard’s on Block Island said. “Anyone who’s ever visited here knows Block Island is a truly special place. I am lucky my family and I are able to call it home. It is our duty to give back to the community we so love and there is no better way to express our true ‘island values’ than to support those who make it an awesome place to live - including the people who call it home, the people who work on the island and those who visit.”
The Retirement Party and Celebration for Retired Block Island Police Chief Vin Carlone is Saturday, May 29th from 1 pm-6 pm and will feature Vin Carlone’s band “Fugitives From Justice” along with local band “Those Guys”. Rain Date is Sunday, May 30th.
