Here are a number of photos of marine critters seen along the island’s ocean shores and in the Great Salt Pond. Refer to the captions for: species name, normal range, where observed and by whom. Although not all the species are exclusively tropical, they all include regular existence in waters south of here. Late summer weather patterns, currents and drifting Gulf Stream often bring warm-water species to our waters. However, the recent storm remnants of Henri and Ida, have certainly deposited some unusual southern species to our shores. Photos taken by others are noted.
